Sail

The Skill to operate a craft which uses water to travel, including ships and galleons. The character can perform simple repairs on the ship (see Crafting) and has limited knowledge of navigation. If the character has more than five ranks in Sail, they may pilot air ships (assuming they find one).

Navigation
The character can attempt to navigate a course with the use of the stars and the sun. This is possible for calculating latitude, but there are currently no methods for calculating longitude. The character rolls Mental + Sail as a Results Roll. The Potency is halved, and used to determine how long the character can navigate without incident. If the character uses the Survival Skill, they gain the benefit of using the character’s full Potency for the roll.

Repair
The character can attempt to restore the Health to a damaged ship. This takes a number of hours equal to the ship’s Hardness. At the end of the time period, the character makes a Results Roll using Mental + Craft. The item regains an amount of Health equal to half the Potency. The Base Cost of repairing an object is equal to half the Cost of the item being repaired and is reduced by the Successes of the Sail roll. If the character uses the Craft Skill, they gain the benefit of using the character’s full Potency for the roll.
