Hardness
All materials have a Hardness . Hardness usually is rated from 1 to 10, and is used to calculate a number of properties for the material.
- Soak: (Hardness + Defence) or ((Hardness x 2) + Soak of Item)
- Health: (Hardness + Bulk + Defence) or (Soak of Item) x 3
Water
Water has a base Hardness of 0. Due to water tension, the effective Hardness of water is increased by 1 against falling objects for every ten feet the object has fallen, to a maximum Hardness of 20.
Purchasing ‘Units’
Equipment Wiz Note: This section is not fully implemented due to increased complication with minimal return. Generally units of material will only be available for acquisition through specific TP instances.
A character who wishes to get materials for crafting later projects makes a Results Roll. The Difficulty is modified by the Cost Modifier of the material they wish to use. The character’s Resource Cost for the roll is equal to modified Difficulty of the roll, and the rules for Minimum Cost apply. The Potency of the roll indicates how many units of goods the character actually gains. A character who uses these Units of Material can reduce the Cost of a project. The Adjusted Cost of the project is reduced by the number of Units being used. This reduced Cost does not affect the Minimum Cost of the project. Purchasing Units of a material takes a number of days equal to the Base Difficulty. This is a Resource Roll, so Resources may be used to make this roll. The character uses Social + Business for the Results Roll.
