Bulk

Bulk determines the weight of an object. If the item is a weapon, Bulk is equal to half the object’s weight in pounds. If the item is a shield or armour, bulk is equal to one fifth of the item’s weight in pounds. For other equipment, Bulk is equal to the item’s weight in pounds. For Transport, Bulk is equal to approximately one fifth of the object’s weight in pounds. To use the item properly (either wearing, carrying, or using), the character’s Physical Attribute plus Size must be higher than the item’s Bulk.

Effects of Bulk
A character with items of greater Bulk than their Physical Attribute + Size Trait + Endurance Skill + 5 suffers penalties. For every point an item’s Bulk is greater than the character’s Physical + Size, the character suffers a 1-die penalty on any Physical Actions, and their Defence, Speed, and Initiative are reduced by one (to a minimum of 0). This penalty is applied for each item with a Bulk over the character’s Physical + Size + 5, and the effects are cumulative.

Size and Bulk
Characters purchasing items of increased Size will find the Resource Cost and the Bulk of the item being increased by one for every two points of Size the character has.
