'Bloodletter (Unique)'

Description

Bloodletter is a white kukri with a series of strange silver runes running up both sides of the blade. The handle is a dark gold, with black leather grip, and looks incredibly sharp. When used to draw blood, the blade grows darker in hue, from white to pink, and ultimately to blood red. When used against an entity or a god, the blade is known to sing a haunting, eerie melody. She has a Bulk of 1 and a Hardness of 20.

When someone draws blood using this weapon for the first time, and every time afterwards, they are forced to make a Spiritual + Meditation roll against a Difficulty equal to the number of Wounds inflicted. If the character succeeds in the roll, there is no ill effect. If the character fails however, they are afflicted with Sanguine’s Curse. This Curse causes the subject to grow short-tempered, and prone to violence, attacking anyone who even for a moment angers them, using Bloodletter. The character will attempt to kill the target by physical means, and as messily as possible without reason. While under the influence of the Curse, the character will attempt to reclaim Bloodletter by any method possible if denied her presence. This Curse has a Difficulty of 10 to break using Magic or Faith, and is re-established the moment the subject draws blood using the weapon again.

Bloodletter grants the following abilities to her owner, regardless of whether or not they are under the Curse:

Damage

  • Mundane Opponent (No Race or Sorcery: Damage (6)
  • Opponent has Sorcery or is Wild or Undead: Damage (8)
  • Opponent has Divine, Faerie, or Infernal: Damage (10)
  • Opponent is a God: Damage (12)

Bloodletter reduces the Soak of a target to 0 and is unaffected by Immortality, Immunity, and Invulnerability. She can bypass and cut through magical barriers which are between her and her target, unless the ward is tailored specifically to restrain Primal Forces (Secondary Effect 13).

A person stabbed by Bloodletter must make a Spiritual + Meditation roll with a Difficulty equal to the Damage the blade would normally have against them. If the victim fails, they are frozen in place, captivated by the sight of the weapon within them and the sensation of their soul being taken. The sensation is at both described as terrifying and erotic, and the victim can not attempt to free themselves – the attacker must decide when to remove the blade, or must be knocked away from the victim.

An individual who is slain by Bloodletter is lost, their spirit or soul taken by her and held in her realm, the blade turning a deep red once she has fed. Those who are lost may be restored by her wish, but only if she has not devoured them. Bloodletter takes one week to devour an individual for every rank of Spiritual Attribute they possess. Once devoured, the individual is lost completely. Those who have been recovered speak of either endless passions or torments, depending on Bloodletter’s mood and feelings for the victim. As Bloodletter devours her prey, she slowly begins to turn white once more.

Skill

Mundane Opponent 1 minimum succ to Attack, +2 Defence on Full Parry
Opponent with Sorcery 3 minimum succ to Attack, +4 Defence on Full Parry
Opponent who is Wild or Undead 3 minimum succ to Attack, +4 Defence on Full Parry
Opponent who is Divine, Faerie, or Infernal 5 minimum succ to Attack, +6 Defence on Full Parry
Opponent is a God 7 minimum succ to Attack, +8 Defence on Full Parry

Minimum Successes: Unlike additional successes, the character does not need to score any successes to succeed in the attack. The character is guaranteed to gain the minimum number of successes listed on an attack against the appropriate opponent. This means, in normal combat situations, the character can not miss.

Immunity

While held (sheathed or unsheathed), the character is Immune to the offensive powers of anyone with Divine, Faerie, or Infernal blood. Additionally, the character is immune to the offensive powers of any supernatural or Primal creature from another realm. This Immunity does not require Essence. The character is also immune to starvation and extremes of heat and cold. The character does not take environmental damage, though can still suffer from drowning. Damage from lightning, fire, wind, or cold are reduced as if the character had a Soak of 20. This includes magical damage.

While held, the owner Regenerates 3 Health for every point of Physical they possess. If the owner has fed Bloodletter their own blood at any time, they gain the power of Immortality, which can not be bypassed or ignored. Upon death, they are brought into Sanguine’s realm. She can restore them at her leisure.

Languages

Bloodletter can speak with her wielder, and knows all languages spoken in Kith Kanaan, though she prefers Arin. She is also completely fluent in the Aria, but does not use it to cast spells. She can, however, grant a +6 additional successes to any use of the Aria – if she chooses.

Forms

Bloodletter reveals three forms to her master and victims within her realm. The maiden, an incredibly attractive woman with blood red fur. This form is her seductive form, and is nearly impossible to resist as she is the primal incarnation of passion and lust. The child is her form of false innocence and temptation. This form is used to draw on a person’s guilt and feelings of protectiveness, and appears as a young, weak girl just barely reaching adolescence. This form she uses to lower the emotional guard of her prey. Her final form is that of the hag, a terrifying creature of claws and fangs. This creature appears ancient and withered, with wild hair and iron claws and teeth. This form is meant to terrify her opponents, causing them to panic blindly. In most cases, her race matches those of her visitor, but in her true form she appears to be of indeterminate race with red fur.

Her final form is when she manifests. She appears as Sanguine, the Divider. Sanguine appears as a woman of incredible beauty and primal presence, her fur the colour of fluid blood. Her hair is usually wild, hanging down over her back, and she is always naked. Her presence radiates sensuality and forbidden desires, and undead in the vicinity feel a pull to her, a need to bed for her to take their lives. Her touch can end the lives of an undead in an instant.

Sanguine is considered to have a minimum of (20) in all Attributes and Skills, and usually has (40) in Defence, Resolve, Resistance, and Soak. She holds the Skills of all those she has devoured, and is considered to have a Mastery in the Aria of (20). Her Attributes, Skills, and Traits can not be reduced below (20) by any method. Her unarmed Damage is (20) and she Regenerates (60).
